He was bothered by the fact that children were disappointed when they visited Santa Claus, Indiana, only to discover that Santa Claus was not there. So, he decided to create a place where Santa Claus could be present all year round.

On August 3, 1946, Santa Claus Land opened its doors. The park had a toy shop, a restaurant, and of course, Santa Claus himself. And let's not forget the reindeer! It was the first-ever themed park, long before Disneyland was even a twinkle in Walt Disney's eye.

Visitors could stroll down Candy Cane Lane, visit the toy shop filled with handcrafted toys, and even feed the reindeer. But the star of the show was Santa Claus, who was there all year-round, even in the sweltering heat of summer. Now that's commitment to the job!

Over the years, Santa Claus Land evolved and expanded. In 1984, it was renamed "Holiday World" to include other holidays like Halloween and Fourth of July. Today, it's known as "Holiday World & Splashin' Safari", boasting roller coasters, water rides, and other thrilling attractions.
